Hye Sam!

Thanks for commenting on my post. This one is pretty cool too! Even though Walt Disney World is not very real, they do a great job fooling us haha. I agree with what you said: as a long as ppl remember "the magic", but don't mistake that for reality, we all should be fine :) (by the way, I love Disney)

Only the escapist movies. There is a whole other world of movies that are meant to engage and challenge the viewer too.

Ah, simulacra! One of the few concepts I still remember from Dramatic Lit... (Did you ever notice that the root word is the same as "simulate?" Hmm...)
So your observation reminded me of an experience I had with my brother and sister-in-law. They love Disneyworld and have gone several times since they’ve been married. So a few months after I returned from Taiwan they showed me pictures from their most recent trip. They especially enjoy the different villages inspired by different countries, one of which being China. It was interesting to see what was used to "simulate" the illusion of being in China. All the stereotypical symbols of an Asian country were present. Like so many of us, these two were content to believe that since they had been to Disneyworld they knew what it was like to go to China… I think it is more prevalent than we realize how the media and pop culture can mold our perceptions on reality.
