I personally love to work in the yard, as long as it is not super hot or cold. Yard work is the one place I know I can feel a sense of acomplishment at a job well done. It is also a great place to do some thinking, similar to how some people think in the shower. Nothing like solving the worlds problems on the back of a lawn tractor.

Yard work was one thing I was dreading as a homeowner but I lucked out and got a yard that was beautiful to begin with. My only challenge is to keep it that way. I'm not doing very well. I've already ruined a brand new pair of hedge clippers and have successfully started killing my St. Augustine grass...the stuff that is supposed to grow like crazy and never die. However, I haven't killed my lawnmower and have become skilled enough that I can mow my yard in about an hour. And I have only found one yard critter...Patrick the Possum. Oh, and the squirrels which I will blog about once I have enough evidence of the havoc they wreak on my deck...it's bad. And I would just like to say that just because I love my yard, it's not enough to make me want to mow your yard, so don't ask me...but if you did ask me, I would probably say yes, so please don't ask me.

I especially appreciate lesson #3 and frequently send silent thanks that my next door neighbor exercises benevolent neglect as her lawn care philosophy.

Yes, the one time I visited you, your lawn service edge right out side the guest bedroom at 7 AM. Rude. I however love yard work and mostly the reward that comes with it. You have seen the picture of trailer o' weeds and I don't see how anyone can stand to see their yard fall apart. But I think I just can't stand it cause I know I can make time to work out there, and most people don't have time. I am proud of you, but in Dallas isn't it still mowing season for another 2 months?
