Top 12… Nay… Top 13 Reviews

Last night was disappointing on SO many levels!  First of all, a storm came through and totally knocked out my reception for the first several performances, so I’ve had to just piece them together from what I can find on the internet.

Also, I am only 10 days away from getting married, so I’m totally distracted right now from being my usual, maniacal, bitter, angry, insulting self.

That being said… here’s what I have come up with:

Top 36 – Group 2

Is it just me or does it seem like AI is really struggling this year to get the live shows off the ground?  Something is off in the universe…

Aw well… here we go with the individual reviews…

I need to start these live shows – the real part of American Idol – right by complaining up front: I don’t like the 12 cut to 3 format!  The cut is too deep too soon!  We can’t get to know any of these people or see them progress on a weekly basis.  It changes the voting entirely, and leaves to a much greater chance the ‘top 12’ that we might get to see.

Wow… Doogie Howser and Ted Danson are in the audience.  I’m star struck.

That being said, let’s take ’em one by one…

Auditions – Week 3

This week, Simon and Friends went to Salt Lake City and Jacksonville – two of the most boring cities on the planet – so it’s not super suprising that things were slightly unremarkable this week.

First of all, we can’t get through this blog without mentioning David Osmond.  Yes, friends, he is a Mormon, and thus we can soon add him to the pantheon of Mormon idols born on this television program.

I predict David will go to top 12, but it’s anyone’s guess after that.  He’s a seasoned performer, so will do well if he can choose the right songs and somehow get America (the non-Mormons) to somehow endear him.

Dust in the Wind? Or just Kansas?

Kansas City was surprising tonight.  And a bit shocking!

simon-surprised

Kara busted out in a British accent, Paula made sense for once, and Randy was just phoning it in as usual.  But the most shocking part was that a lot of people went through for the wrong reasons tonight….Very weird.

Simon?  Where were you today to keep the quality control up?

Arizona? Try Awful-zona.

Tonight’s premiere was a great way to start the season.  In fact, I will say very little at this stage, and let the images and video speak for itself!  … but first…

… Simon flips off America!  What a great way to start off Season 8!!!

W.E. + S.C. = Truth and Beauty

As bad as this week can get, nothing can change the bright hope for the future that I am carrying in my heart – the hope for next Tuesday when American Idol Season 8 will premiere on the Fox network!

It’s me and Simon, back again, for one more season of AI!!!

For those of you who are new to my blog, let me explain a bit of the history.

I didn’t really get into American Idol until Season 5.  I followed Season 2 closely, but checked out during seasons 3-4 because I was too busy getting my college education (and I really didn’t like any of the contestants). When I picked up watching in Season 5, I decided that it wasn’t enough for me just to watch – I had to also make my correct opinions known to America so they could make an informed decision on who they should pick as their Idol…

…And thus, this blog was born!

While I can’t say I’ve reached any kind of Idol-Gossip celebrity status, I do pride myself on one thing – Me and Simon are right.  Always.  Period.  We know what we want when we see it, and we know who should win even if they don’t.  (And we both seriously regret letting Sanjaya on the show…  Worst mistake of our collective careers!)

So, prepare yourselves dear readers.  WhiteEyebrows.com will turn into American Idol central on Wednesdays and Thursdays here in a few weeks.  Thankfully, I don’t get serious about blogging until the Top 24 are announced, but I can’t help but post a few of the funny videos during the auditions either.

Well, my dear American Idol fans, the season is coming swiftly to a close, and here we are at what might be one of the most exciting finale’s of AI history. The two boys go head to head in what might have been a knock down drag out, but what ended up as a good old fashioned butt whoopin’, complete with the out of control judges totally taking sides.

Let’s start by talking theme. Is it just me or did they take the boxing metaphor just a little too far??? Oh, but I’m glad they got this one right… yes, David Archuleta is “…weighing in at around 100 lbs.”

But lets look past the stupid intro, and to things that really matter, like our Judges… Paula is bedazzled tonight (like Monday’s microphone), and Simon is (yet again) baring a bit too much chest… just slightly inappropriate for a man his age.

Now to some reviews of actual singing… Continue reading Top 2 Reviewed

Paula seems to be trying extra hard tonight to not make stupid comments. Did she get writers?  Perhaps she’s been coached this week.  Was that an ear piece I saw in her ear?  Maybe someone just swapped out her Coke cup right before taping… yeah, that’s it.

But she was still up and dancing like a drunken… la dee da dee da.

Also, was it just me or was the audio mix totally off? I couldn’t hear the band at all…

To the reviews…
